What Are BodyCombat English Cues?
BodyCombat is a high-energy martial arts-inspired workout created by Les Mills. Instructors use standardized English verbal cues to guide participants through punches, kicks, blocks, and stances. Knowing these cues helps you stay in sync with the rhythm and maximize your performance.
Common English Cues in BodyCombat
- Front Kick! – Extend your leg straight forward.
- Roundhouse! – Swing your leg in a circular motion across your body.
- Jab! Cross! – Quick straight punches: lead hand then rear hand.
- Hook! – Curved punch targeting the side of the head or body.
- Uppercut! – Rising punch from below toward the chin.
- Knee Strike! – Drive your knee upward.
- Side Kick! – Push your leg out sideways.
- Block! – Raise arms to defend against incoming strikes.
- Squat! – Lower into a wide-legged stance.
- Power 3! – A combo of three powerful moves (often Jab-Cross-Hook).
- Add it! – Layer an extra move (e.g., knee or kick) into the combo.
- Drop it down! – Lower your stance for more intensity.
- Let’s go! – Encouragement to increase speed or power.
